THE PONY UP DIFFERENCE

Why We Formulate Custom
Primers for Your Roof:

A coating is only as good as its grip, and grip starts with the primer.

Every metal roof carries its own history: mill finish, old paint, oxidation, decades of desert sun. What sticks to one roof can peel clean off the next. That's the trap with polyurea, and it's exactly where most jobs fail.

Most contractors don't bother. They spray whatever primer is left over from the last job and hope it holds. We don't hope. On every commercial polyurea job, we work directly with our manufacturer to formulate a custom primer matched to your roof.  A relationship we've spent over a decade building and a manufacturer committed to testing so we know it works before we ever pull the trigger.

Anyone can spray a coating. Getting it to stay on during AZ's Monsoon season takes the experience, the relationship, and the patience most crews just don't have.

OUR FIVE STEP PROCESS

01

Sample — We pull a physical sample from your actual roof.

02

Send — The sample goes to the coating manufacturer's lab.

03

Formulate — A primer is custom-blended for your exact substrate.

04

Test — Adhesion is pull-tested to 500+ PSI bond strength.

05

Spray — Only then does the polyurea go down. Seamless. Permanent.

Superior Foam & Coatings
for the Arizona Desert

High-performance coatings and specialized primer systems built for Arizona's toughest environments.

From commercial facilities to homes, barns, and agricultural properties, we deliver durable protection that lasts.

Closed Cell Foam INSULATION

The Right Foam

Closed cell is structural, water-resistant, and dense — the right foam for barns, shops, exterior walls, and flat-topped roofs in a climate that punishes anything soft. It seals every gap while adding rigidity to the building itself. Paired with a polyurea top coat, it becomes our signature roof system: seamless insulation and armor in one, cutting interior temps and blocking monsoon moisture, with a 20–30 year service life.

Open cell is lighter, more affordable, and expands aggressively to fill every crevice — the right foam for attics, interior walls, and framed spaces where a complete air seal matters more than structural strength. It stops drafts and cuts sound transfer without the cost of a rigid, water-resistant system.

We don't default to one or the other. We spec the foam to the application — closed cell where the building needs strength and moisture resistance, open cell where it just needs a tight, quiet seal.

Water Doesn't Attack a Dome From Above. It Comes From Underneath.

A geodesic dome in the Colorado high country takes relentless sun and constant freeze-thaw. The failure point usually is not the shell. It is the seam where the structure meets its concrete pad.

Water wicks in at ground level, freezes, expands and drives moisture back inside. That is ice damming, the same mechanism that makes Colorado builders run ice and water shield up the bottom three feet of a roof. We sprayed a seamless polyurea barrier under the dome and six inches up the base. No seams, no laps, no fasteners for water to find.

Spray-applied coating does not have that problem. It goes on as a liquid and cures into one continuous membrane that follows the curve exactly. No seams. No fasteners. No weak points. Same polyurea and silicone systems we put on commercial flat roofs, backed by the same warranty.

INDUSTRY CASE STUDY
FROM THE FIELD

When the Desert Sandblasted Every Other Coating Off, Polyurea Held.

THE CHALLENGE: In the Mojave Desert, a water-solutions company maintained 13 large corrugated carbon-steel storage tanks inside a wind farm. Wind-driven sand and relentless heat destroyed conventional paints and polyurethane coatings within months - a constant, expensive failure cycle.

THE SOLUTION: A spray-applied polyurea membrane - the same class of coating we use - applied with high-pressure plural-component equipment. Set time: 7 seconds. The tanks went back into service almost immediately.

THE RESULT: All 13 tanks coated, maintenance costs cut, and polyurea now the only coating specified for the site. That's why polyurea is our specialty: no coating family performs better in extreme desert conditions.

CLOSER TO HOME: It's the same reason we first sprayed polyurea inside our own aluminum horse trailer - barnyard acids were eating the floor. One seamless coat later: no seams for urine to penetrate, easier cleaning, and a trailer that will outlast the truck pulling it.

Desert tank project: published industry case study (Polyglass USA / Hydrona LLC, Mojave, CA, 2024-2025). Trailer story: ours.
